RUFUS DU SOLAustralian Grammy Award-winning electronic outfit, RÜFÜS DU SOL, have gone and made history at one of the world’s most renowned venues: Madison Square Garden.
Currently touring across the US, the Australian dance group lands in New York this week for four consecutive sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden – the most gigs by an electronic artist at the venue, selling the most tickets by an electronic artist in the venue’s history.
Other highlights of their current US tour include performing to a sold-out, 45,000-capacity crowd at Montréal’s Parc Jean-Drapeau, plus sold-out shows at American baseball stadiums, such as Chicago’s Wrigley Field, Boston’s Fenway Park, and San Diego’s Petco Park.
Another highlight: on Saturday, 4 July, the trio will perform to over 60,000 fans at Mexico City’s Foro Sol.
The incredible turnout at RÜFÜS DU SOL’s current US tour follows a whirlwind year for the trio. Their Inhale / Exhale World Tour was crowned the highest-selling electronic tour of all time, selling 750,000 tickets to their headline shows and playing to 1.5 million fans worldwide, including at festivals.
At home, the trio played to over 150,000 fans last November, which included three nights at two of the country’s largest arenas: Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena and Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena.
Reviewing the trio’s first of three Melbourne shows, The Music’s Michael Prebeg wrote, “The first of three sold-out RÜFÜS DU SOL Melbourne shows proves that they remain masters of turning electronic soundscapes into communal, deeply human experiences that can move both body and soul.
