Rod Stewart Reportedly Charged With Battery Over NYE Incident

UK singer Rod Stewart has reportedly been charged for allegedly assaulting a hotel employee on New Year’s Eve.

As reported by TMZ, Stewart and his son, Sean, have been charged with battery after an incident at a hotel in Palm Beach, Florida.

Rod allegedly punched a security guard in the rib cage area after himself and Sean tried to enter a private event without authorization and things escalated, with Sean said to have shoved the security guard.

A source told PEOPLE the incident “was a brief misunderstanding and neither Rod nor Sean were detained” and that “apologies were exchanged and there were no injuries”.

Rod and Sean are both set to appear in court on February 5 over the matter.

Rod Stewart is scheduled to bring his Hits! tour to Australia this October where he'll play arena and winery dates across the country.
