Rina Sawayama Announces Australian, 'Hold The Girl Tour'

The tour announcement comes just before the release of her forthcoming record of the same name.

British-Japanese pop sensation Rina Sawayama has today announced her debut tour of Australia, bringing her Hold The Girl tour to our shores at the beginning of next year.

Rina will kick off the tour at Sydney’s Roundhouse on January 12, Melbourne’s 170 Russell on January 13 and concluding at The Triffid, Brisbane on January 14.

The tour announcement comes just before the release of her forthcoming record of the same name, Hold The Girl, which releases on the 16th of September. The album features previously released singles This Hell, Catch Me In The Air, Hold The Girl which represents a smorgasbord of monster hits in the waiting.

Single Catch Me In The Air is an emotional and intimate tribute to her mother who raised her as a single parent. "I really wanted to write about this weird relationship with single parents – you do catch each other in the air,” she explains.

Her previous record SAWAYAMA was a critically acclaimed and fan adored album that achieved a magnitude of milestones including the changing of the Mercury Prize and BRITs eligibility rules who now allow Non-British artists to apply for the awards if they have been in a permanent resident in the UK for more than 5 years.

Tickets for all of the shows go on sale at 9am on Friday the 9th of September. Fans will be able to add a digital album of Hold The Girl to their ticket purchase.
