"Unfortunately this person was scammed."

The label for pop megastar Rihanna has claimed that a company suing the singer for a concert she allegedly bailed on in 2013 has been scammed.

According to TMZ, Chris Ubosi and his company, Megalectrics, allege that they dealt with two people who claimed to represent Rihanna, her label Roc Nation and Jay Z and agreed for her to perform in Nigeria, where she would receive $US425,000 for a 65 minute show.

Ubosi claims he made three payments worth $US160,000, before Rihanna's camp asked to postpone the show.

He reportedly agreed to the postponement on the condition the 28-year-old artist posted the new date to her social media handles, which never happened.

Megalectrics cancelled the entire gig and demanded their money back which they are yet to receive, however Roc Nation released a statement earlier today claiming that neither Rihanna nor her camp knew about the gig.

"Rihanna, Roc Nation nor anyone associated personally or professionally with either party was in contact with this person," the statement reads.

"Unfortunately this person was scammed. Rihanna nor Roc Nation collected any money for this event."
