6 August 2014 | 12:11 pm | Staff Writer

Six new releases from the leading indie imprint

Sydney indie label Rice Is Nice has signalled their strong intentions for the rest of the year today with three new signings and six new albums slated.

Geelong’s Frowning Clowns, the (primarily) Sydney based You Beauty and France via Brisbane alt-pop project Lia Mice have all joined one of Australia’s most reputable indie rosters, while existing artists SPOD, Donny Benet and Richard In Your Mind have all confirmed albums.

SPOD’s Taste The Sadness – an update on his Taste The Radness album which was released a decade ago – will be released Friday 22 August. Richard In Your Mind’s return to the new release sheet Ponderosa was pieced together over the past 24 months and will be available Friday 29 August.

There’s two more releases in September, with Frowning Clouds set to unleash their album of psych-surf rock Legalize Everything on Friday 12 and Donny Benets’s collaboration album (features The Preatures’ Isabella Manfredi, Jack Ladder, Kirin J Callinan, Elana Stone and more) will be out Friday 26.

To round out the new releases Eleanor C Mice – aka Lia Mice – will release her solo album I Love You, conceived in France after stints in New York, Friday 10 October.

You Beauty’s Jersey Flegg was released independently earlier this year, but will receive the vinyl treatment Friday 30 October.

The label, run by Julia Wilson, has recently released records by Straight Arrows and Summer Flake. They are distributed by Inertia.
