The 23rd annual charity football match hits Elsternwick Park next month
As the yearly Reclink Community Cup gears up for its biggest year ever, with new events locked down for Hobart and Brisbane in addition to existing events in Adelaide, Perth, Sydney and Melbourne, organisers have revealed the headline musical act for the Victorian leg to be none other than celebrated Aussie outfit Regurgitator.
The clash between the Rockdogs and Triple R 102.7FM/PBS 106.7 Megahertz will be also soundtracked with live performances from fellow legend Ross Wilson, local heroes Total Giovanni, five-piece rockers The Sugarcanes and Sydney fly-ins Loose Tooth. Young'uns are well catered for, too, with Play School host Rhys Muldoon and Spiderbait drummer Kram teaming up to collaborate on a super-cool rock band for kids.
"Fanging to play the Reclink Cup!" Regurgitator frontman Quan said in a statement. "Rocking out, then getting to watch sweaty humans play with their balls is basically the only reason we started this band."
With previous performers at the event including the likes of Paul Kelly, Tim Rogers, Tex Perkins, Courtney Barnett and others, the calibre of artists headed to Elsternwick Park next month should come as no surprise; in fact, Reclink chief executive John Ballis explains, the musical line-up is becoming one of the most alluring aspects of the entire event.

"Every year this event gets bigger and bigger," he said. "I wouldn't say it's because of the level of football played on the day, either. The calibre of bands in the line-up, the community spirit and the entertainment on the field are becoming legendary."
The Melbourne Community Cup, raising funds for Reclink, will be held on Sunday 26 June at Elsternwick Park, with gates opening at 11.45am.
