RedHook are about to blow up.

The Sydney band have released their new festival-ready banger, Soju featuring Perth indie rockers Sly Withers, just in time for Good Things

Soju was produced by Stevie Knight (Stand Atlantic, Yours Truly) and mixed by James Paul Wisner (Underoath, Paramore). The saxophone-inflected pop-punk anthem features shared vocals with RedHook's Emmy Mack and Sly Withers' singer Jono Mata. The track premiered on triple j yesterday afternoon.

Mack shares the inspiration behind the song: "I wrote Soju about the perils of being a 'people pleaser' and the feelings of frustration and resentment that can boil up when you don't set healthy boundaries and allow more assertive personalities to push you around.

"It's a 'fuck you' song, but it's also simultaneously a 'fuck me' song because, at the end of the day, it's up to each of us to prioritise our own needs and not compromise our values to keep the peace. Some people like me just struggle with it a bit harder than others."

For those worried about the lack of the heavy factor in Soju, don't despair; the band have plenty of surprises up their sleeves.

Soju will appear on RedHook's debut album, Postcards From A Living Hell, slated for release on 21 April 2023. Previously released singles SAY and Jabberwocky will also feature on the record.

Mack says, "It's been a long time coming, but we're so ridiculously excited to finally announce our debut album! This is something we've done purely for our fans. We have so much epic new music on the way that traverses the full spectrum of RedHook's colourful sonic universe, and we can't wait for it to smash you in the earholes."

SAY was added to the Rock Hard, The Rock List, All New Rock, New Music Friday AU & NZ, Rock Out and Homegrown + Heavy playlists (combined total of 2.2m followers).

Earlier this year, RedHook performed at Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park festivals in Germany alongside A Day To Remember, Muse, Green Day and more. If this year was big for the band, next year looks to be meteoric.

RedHook will cap off 2022 with appearances at Good Things Festival.
