Vinyl fans’ favourite day of the year is fast approaching: Record Store Day returns on Saturday, 20 April, providing limited edition and first-ever releases from Australian artists you know and love.

This year, the Australian releases list for Record Store Day features artists including Ian Moss, Montaigne, country star James Johnston, hip-hop up-and-comer Tasman Keith, indie folk group Sons Of The East, and more.

Elsewhere, independent record stores across the country have locked in some epic international releases, including a red & black splatter vinyl of Black Sabbath’s Paranoid, Waiting In The Sky (Before The Starman Came To Earth) by David Bowie (on 180g black vinyl), David Byrne and Paramore’s team-up for Hard Times / Burning Down The House on 12-inch vinyl, Dolores O’Riordan’s Are You Listening on colour vinyl, Cracker Island by Gorillaz on limited pink vinyl, Pearl Jam’s new album, Dark Matter, Australia’s own Sia’s third album Colour The Small One on white/transparent vinyl, Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Remixes release on blue glitter vinyl, with releases from The Rolling Stones, The Who, Kate Bush and many more on the list, which you can find here.

Last year, Peking Duk featuring Darren Hayes, Ball Park Music, Bluey, Ocean Alley, Underground Lovers and more made their mark on the Australian edition of Record Store Day. This year, Died Pretty, Magic Dirt, Hard-Ons, Sunset Strip, The Mad Turks, The Meanies, and even more stars are on a double LP compilation of Australian music called Time Capsule. Australian Sounds. 1985-1994.

In exciting news, Montaigne’s debut album, Glorious Heights, is arriving on saffron yellow vinyl a decade after its release. The singer-songwriter stated, “I’m so excited to finally release Glorious Heights on vinyl after years of demand.

“I’m also stoked that I could do it in partnership with Record Store Day and support independent retailers of music as I embark on my own journey of independence.”
