The event theme and line-up have been revealed for the Reclink Community Cup match between community radio giants Megahertz (Triple R 102.7FM & PBS 106.7FM) and the ruthless Rockdogs at Victoria Park in Abbotsford on the 19th of June following after a two-year absence.

The theme honours distinguished Gunditjmara/Bundjalung singer-songwriter Archie Roach AM and his incredible musical and charitable contributions over the decades. The theme is Let Love Rule for the Cup's 26th instalment, a title taken from his seventh studio album and song of the same name.

Let Love Rule is a song about love being the main sentiment in your life, the driving force that inspires you each day to do what you do," says Archie Roach.

"In today’s world LOVE is expressed in many ways: through respecting one another, caring for one another and hoping that everybody is happy and well in their life. That’s what letting love rule means to me in today’s world.

"Community is also a tangible expression of love and connection," he adds. "What better way to express LOVE than to come together, playing a game of footy and listening to some great Australian music?”

Speaking of great Australian music, the artists set to conquer the main stage include Cash Savage & The Last Drinks, Melbourne rock'n'roll heroes Private Function, four-piece Parsnip, nine-member ensemble Ausecuma Beats and neo-soul outfit Izy rounding out the bill.

“The Reclink Community Cup is one of the most iconic sports events in Melbourne's calendar,” says Co-Captain of the PBS RRR Megahertz and local icon, Mz Rizk.

“It’s more than just the game – the event brings together music and community radio football players and attracts music and sports fans alike. It’s an amazing day out that supports a great cause.

"I am all about different communities coming together for a not-so-serious day of sport,” she adds. “That said, the Megahertz will be working hard to keep the trophy.”
