Radiohead just played their first show in seven years, marking the highly anticipated event with a massive 25-song set.

Starting last night (4 November), the British rockers performed their first of four shows at Movistar Arena in Madrid, Spain. Throughout the rest of this month and into December, Radiohead will perform four nights in Europe and the UK, with arena shows scheduled in Bologna, London, Copenhagen, and Berlin.

Tickets had to be bought through a pre-registration process on Radiohead’s website, with a majority of tickets sold to punters living nearest to their respective venues in an attempt to “reduce competition from bots and ticket touts.”

All ticket sales for the European shows included a €1 donation to Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders, with Radiohead promising to match the total donation. For their London shows, punters made a £1 donation to the UK-based LIVE Trust in support of grassroots venues.

For the first show of Radiohead’s 2025 tour, there was a surprising amount of focus on their 2003 album, Hail To The Thief, along with 1997’s OK Computer—both albums receiving six songs on the set.

Other albums represented included 2007’s In Rainbows and 2000’s Kid A (four songs apiece), 2016’s A Moon Shaped Pool (two songs), and 2001’s Amnesiac, 1997’s The Bends, and 2012’s The King Of Limbs (one song apiece). No new songs were premiered. The day before the show, the band sound-checked a whopping 28 songs.

Upon announcing the tour with little fanfare in September, drummer Philip Selway revealed, “Last year, we got together to rehearse, just for the hell of it. After a seven-year pause, it felt really good to play the songs again and reconnect with a musical identity that has become lodged deep inside all five of us.

“It also made us want to play some shows together, so we hope you can make it to one of the upcoming dates. For now, it will just be these ones, but who knows where this will all lead.”

Last month, singer Thom Yorke and guitarist Ed O’Brien addressed the band’s lengthy hiatus ahead of the shows.

Admitting that “the wheels came off a bit,” Yorke acknowledged the passing of his first wife, Rachel Owen and the difficulties in processing his grief. Ed O’Brien also detailed that he and his bandmates felt “disconnected” during their A Moon Shaped Pool tour.
