Final Radio Ratings Released Before Indefinite Hiatus Due To COVID Pandemic

The ratings are in.

In the weeks following last month’s radio ratings, the Australian broadcasting landscape changed drastically in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.

In the latest ratings, which, as reported by Radio Today, will be the last for a while due to the global pandemic, KIIS FM's Kyle & Jackie O hold onto their spot as Sydney's #1 FM breakfast team, while triple j lands mixed results across the country.

Sydney

Smoothfm 95.3 was the highest rating FM station in Sydney with a 9% market share, up 0.9% on last period, while triple j took a big hit in the region, dropping 1.4% to sit at 5.5%. Triple J breakfast team Sally & Erica have recorded their second drop in Sydney (down 0.6%), while the station's Drive and Evening shows have experienced big decreases, dropping 2.5% and 2.4% respectively.

As expected, KIIS FM's Kyle & Jackie O are still Sydney's #1 FM breakfast team, with a market share of 10.2% (up 0.3%), putting them further ahead of their nearest competitor, WSFM's breakfast team, Jonesy & Amanda, who hold steady at 9.1%.

After a significant jump last ratings, Nova's breakfast show has dropped 0.3% to sit at 7.7% market share, while Triple M's breakfast show continues its rise, moving up 0.5% to sit at 6% market share.

Melbourne

Much like last month's ratings, triple j fared better in Melbourne. Sally & Erica are up 1% (7% market share), while the youth broadcaster's Drive is up 1.2% (7.4% market share) and Evenings experienced a significant bump of 1.4% (6.3% market share). Despite a huge jump last ratings of 3.4%, triple j's weekend share has dropped 0.5% (7.1% market share).

Gold FM's Christian O’Connell breakfast show holds onto its #1 FM title and enjoys a bump of 0.2% (9.4% market share), while Nova's Chrissy, Sam & Browny falls 0.5% (7.8% market share) and Triple M's breakfast show sees a decrease of 0.6% to land at 5.2% market share.

Brisbane

Triple J continues to drop in Brisbane with Breakfast dipping 0.4% to make up 7% market share, Mornings down 1.4% (7.5% market share), Afternoons at 9.1% market share (0.2% drop), Drive at 8.8% market share (0.8% drop), Evenings at 6.5% market share (1.6% drop) and its weekend share dropping 2% to sit at a 9% market share.

97.3 FM’s breakfast line-up, Robin, Terry & Bob, are finding their groove again rising 0.3% after a drop last month to take a market share of 10.4%, while Triple M experiences a significant drop of 1.9% to its breakfast show (9.5% market share) as Hit105 receives a bump of 0.4% to bring it to 11.8% market share (holding onto the title of #1 FM breakfast show) and Nova's show with Ash, Kip, Luttsy & Susie drops 0.8% (10.2% market share).

Perth

Triple J experienced an overall bump of 0.2% in Perth, bringing its market share to 10%, with all areas except its Morning and weekend programming going up in the ratings, which reported a dip of 0.5% and 1.7% respectively. Sally & Erica increased their market share to 10% (up 1.4%), while Afternoons is at 10.5% (up 0.7%), Drive is at 11.4% (up 1%) and Evenings experiences a huge bump of 3% for a market share of 10.1%.

Despite dipping 2%, Nova's breakfast show with Nathan, Nat & Shaun remains Perth's most popular breakfast program at 13.5% market share. After a huge loss of 3.9% last ratings, Mix FM's breakfast show has increased by 1.9% (10.6% market share), while 96FM dropped 2.4% (10.9% market share) and HIT92.9 increased 0.5% (10.1% market share).

Adelaide

Mix FM's Jodie & Soda remain #1 in the Adelaide FM breakfast market, despite a drop of 1% (10.6% market share), while Nova's new breakfast program with former triple j hosts Ben & Liam hold onto #2 with a 9.7% market share, dropping 0.2% for the second ratings in a row. After a big hit last ratings, Triple M bounces back, increasing 2.3% for 8.9% market share.

Triple J holds steady for the most part in Adelaide but reports a huge increase of 2.6% with Drive (10.8% market share), with a 0.3% increase for Breakfast (total 7.4%) and 0.4% increase for Evenings (total 4.9%), while Mornings and Weekends are down 0.3% and 1.1% respectively.
