"To have that sort of support and recognition really means a lot.”

The annual Queensland Music Awards have announced their 2022 season is now open to artists all over the state for nominations.

The awards - which cover a huge list of genres and recognitions - offer a huge boost to the local scene including the yearly Billy Thorpe Scholarship, which gives out a total of $10,000 to young artists to aide their creative endeavours.

QMA's will also see last years winner Sycco receive her Song Of the Year plaque this week. The pop producer won for her track Dribble, and will see her join the ranks of Powderfinger, The Saints, Savage Garden and stacks more when her plaque is placed on Brunswick St's Valley Walk Of Fame.

“Winning a QMA was a huge milestone for me," the singer said of the accolade.

"I did not expect to actually win at all, so there was a huge shock factor! To have that sort of support and recognition really means a lot.

"“Having a plaque in the Valley is absolutely immense, I used to walk past those all the time and see big names that have inspired me so much - to be a part of that is unreal!"
