Can the underdogs topple the city's heaviest hitters?
The list of artists who have earned a place as finalists at the 2013 Queensland Music Awards has today been confirmed, with well-known acts like Ball Park Music, Violent Soho, The Amity Affliction and Emma Louise battling it out with scores of burgeoning local acts.
The big award for Album Of The Year will be fought out between Emma Louise's Vs Head Vs Heart, Ball Park Music's Museum, Texas Tea's Sad Summer Hits and WE ALL WANT TO's Come Up Invisible. The pop song of the year will be contested between Come On. Stand Out. by 7Bit Hero, Surrender by Ball Park Music, C'Mon by Seja and Around Here by Thelma Plum, while the rock song of the year sees Alan Boyle's Shepherd and the Sheep and Fushia's Pioly take on The Trouble With Templeton's Six Months In A Cast and Violent Soho's Neighbour Neighbour.
The performers who will be playing at the awards this year, which go back to their old home of The Tivoli on Tuesday 13 August, include Violent Soho, The Jungle Giants, The Trouble with Templeton, Seja, Thelma Plum, Harmony James, Pigeon, BlaqCarrie and Chukale.
