Queen Drummer's Son Joins The Darkness

Rufus Taylor joins Brit rockers

More The Darkness The Darkness

Music clearly runs in the family at the Taylor household.

The son of Queen drummer, Roger Taylor, has joined fellow English rock band The Darkness as their new drummer.

In a radio interview with Brit station Real Radio XS, The Darkness guitarist Dan Hawkins revealed that Rufus Taylor had officially joined.

“The ‘drummist’ will be known as Rufus Taylor, son of Roger Taylor” Hawkins announced after the departure of previous drummer Emily Davies last month.

He went on to say that Taylor was recommended to him through a friend and the transition was quick, to say the least.

“I mean, to give you an idea of the chaos…he just happened to be in Australia at the time when we needed to get someone in" Hawkins recalled.

"So he stepped off a plane at 6AM in the morning, went straight to rehearsal with us where we ran through things a couple of times, the set that we were playing that night. And then we went straight to the place and did a gig."

"Talk about seat of your pants!" he quipped of the April 24 show.

The Darkness are set to release their fourth studio album, Last Of Our Kind on June 1, followed by a European tour.
