With amusement rides and a floating stage
Australia's newest festival, Sandalphon 2016, will launch over the Queen's Birthday Long Weekend (1-3 October) in the Gold Coast Hinterland.
The seven-stage event will showcase award-winning international indie bands, R&B artists and DJs — all yet to be announced.
Sandalphon promises to be a festival with a difference, with amusement rides, an open-air cinema and a pop-up hotel. One stage will be built on a lake surrounded by inflatable toys, while another will be hidden from the festival map as a secret 'treehouse' town.
In an Australian festival first, food options include three full sit-down restaurants, a farmer's market and private food vendors. There will even be bathroom attendants to stock the bathrooms with free make-up, hair accessories and perfume. Portaloo chic.
