Plus the contenders for Album Of The Year!
The annual Queensland Music Awards are once more almost upon us, a notion made all the more real by the announcement today that voting has opened for the 2015 BOQ People's Choice Awards, with the grand winners to be revealed at the QMAs next month.
The public-voted PCAs are implemented in three stages — two heats and a final — with the first bracket open for voting from today until midnight on Sunday, 1 March. Amid the first round of acts, Most Popular Female will be battled out by Sahara Beck, Thelma Plum, Airling and Emma Louise, while Most Popular Male is looking at Karl S Williams, Jeremy Neale, Danny Harley or Sampology to move to the final. The first week's Most Popular Group bracket is similarly impressive, comprising HITS, Blank Realm, Halfway, Violent Soho, Sheppard and DZ Deathrays.
The following week's voting will open from 9am on Monday, 2 March, and continue until midnight on Sunday, 8 March; the three categories will once again be respectively contested by MKO, Bec Laughton, Jackie Marshall and Eves The Behavior; Ben Salter, Bobby Alu, Bernard Fanning and Lawrence English; and The Amity Affliction, Velociraptor, Dubmarine, The Trouble With Templeton, Dune Rats and Ball Park Music.
From there, the People's Choice Awards move into week three — 9am Monday, 9 March, until midnight Sunday, 15 March — when the grand finalists will be titled Most Popular [blank] at the 2015 QMAs.
