Welcome back to the segment where we pluck the best mixes from all over the web and the world, bundle ’em together and call it PS Selected. Whether it was whipped up last week or last year, if it’s worth listening to it’s bound to be featured as Holly O’Neill takes you through the hours and hours of quality mixes uploaded across the net by big and small selectors alike.
Every week I try my best to come up with a connecting thread for all the mixes of the week but honestly, sometimes they're all just really good mixes in their own special ways! That's why I'm sharing 'em after all. This week I've stumbled upon some goodies from SHA SHA KIMBO, KELELA + ASAMARA, LEWIS CANCUT, NATALIA and BLOOD ORANGE to push you into the week ahead and get you moving and grooving.
If you haven't already listened to Blood Orange's latest mixtape Angel's Pulse, what are you doing!? Go listen to it! Then come back and listen to his recent guest spot on NTS, where he popped into their London studio to spin some chopped and screwed tunes, dream pop and woozy hip hop. Enlisting local duo Low Spirits for some guest selections across the hour and a half, the show feels cozy and warm like taking a nap in the afternoon sun.

The Nectar posse are quickly becoming known for breaking down traditional barriers to entry to the music scene and demolishing conventional genre borders, and no one on the roster does it better than Natalia. Being picked up for Bizarro's ever growing Bizarro Blends series, she shares an hour of eclectic, percussion driven electro, techno and bass. Filled with curveballs and thoughtful transitions, the mix carries a chugging energy thanks to polyrhythmic blends and syncopated drum patterns that keep the energy high even when the BPM is low.
Just incase you needed something to get the creative juices flowing, Lewis Cancut has just dropped a mix of tropical tinged easy-listening recorded live at the RMIT Design Hub. It's an hour and a half of soothing experimental sounds that explore fun melodies and gloopy synthesis. Showcasing the more lowkey, diverse influences of the Melbourne producer, it's a relaxing mix with a touch of the weird and wonderful.
If you're a little slow moving this winter, get ready for a shot of white hot summer vibes in this huge new mix from LA producer Sha Sha Kimbo. Packed with dancefloor weapons and four to the floor intensity, her Summer of Sextacy mix packs an energetic punch. Blending old school rave sounds with bright maximalism, she mixes her own tunes with driving beats and large chords. Moving from cheeky dance tunes to ease you in, into sweaty basslines to close it out, it's forty-five minutes of rave euphoria.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of alternative label Warp Records, neo-RnB queen Kelela and DJ Asamara joined forces to go outside their musical comfort zone and delve into the world of the ambient. Together they selected, mixed and crooned over a gorgeous selection of deep listening tracks, linked with emotive chord structures and slow moving melodies. The near hour of tunes are made all the more special mixed with samples of the vocalist's own echoing harmonies and improvised lyrics, crafting a whole new experience from the lowkey experimental tunes.
