The Laneway Festival line-up has just dropped and it's fresh as hell!
Yep that's right! The Laneway Festival line-up has just dropped and it's fresh as hell!
The opinion over on the decks at Purple Sneakers is that it's the best line-up we've seen in years, featuring some of the most exciting acts coming out of Australia at the moment - some of whom you may have seen crop up on the pages of our wonderful website here.
It had already been announced that Chet Faker, aka Nick Murphy as he is now and has actually been known as since birth, is playing the festival and he'll be joined by the likes of Tourist, AB Original, Flyying Colours, Tycho and our own national gems, Tame Impala. But with so many acts on this spectacular line-up, how are you going to decide who to check out when Laneway Festival rolls around? Here's where we've got you covered, check out the PS Approved list of acts for Laneway 2017.
Koi Child
Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter
The Perth-based outfit will bring a bit of jazzy funk-infused hip-hop into the Laneway mix, making their act completely fresh on this lineup. Their reputation precedes them in a live setting as well, promising to be one of the most energetic sets of the day. Koi Child should definitely be on your Laneway list.
GL
The duo have had a great run this year and their cosmic 80's melodies will fit in perfectly with the Laneway set. Every track they release feels like a feel good track that should be playing at a vibrant pool party, and you just can't help but dance as soon as those hooks come in. If you're looking for a summer-y dance, GL is where you need to be.
Sampa The Great
We met Sampa The Great at Splendour In the Grass and she's a joy. You know what else is a joy? Her god damn live show! The rapper is energetic and just generally badass on stage and her confidence surges through you when you watch her perform. Her Laneway set will probably draw a large crowd, but it'll be worth rubbing shoulders with people because Sampa The Great is just too great to miss!
Roland Tings
If you're a fan of Todd Terje then you'll love Roland Tings. Tings has become quite well known for his melodic electronica. His catalogue is comprised of some epic tunes, where he masterfully creates thriving and eclectic soundscapes, and we now have our hopes high for new material thanks to this announcement. Roland Tings has a tropical groove to his aesthetic which will be perfect for Laneway 2017. Come drink some pineapple and coconut margaritas with us at Roland Tings!
NAO
NAO there's not much we can say about NAO (see what we did there?) that can do her music justice. Her light voice sounds like a sweet treat on top of those hard-hitting melodies that seem to tug at your heart strings. If you've heard her track 'Girlfriend', then you'll know what I'm talking about. NAO will be a great spot for a sing-a-long and for soaking in that wonderful voice.
