It's finally coming.
Production for the highly-anticipated mini-series about iconic Aussie rockers The Easybeats has officially kicked off this week, while the main cast has also been revealed.
As we noted back in February, the two-part series will air on ABC later this year and filming is taking place in Sydney.
According to ABC, the show "tells the story of five young newly-arrived immigrants who met in a Sydney migrant hostel in the swinging 1960s and went on to take Australian rock’n’roll to the world".
Written by Christopher Lee (Gallipoli, Howzat) and directed by Matthew Saville (Please Like Me, The Slap), the mini-series boasts quite the impressive cast with AACTA award winner Ashley Zukerman (The Code, Manhattan) as industry pioneer Ted Albert, Christian Byers (December Boys) as Stevie Wright, Will Rush as George Young, Mackenzie Fearnley as Harry Vanda, Du Toit Bredenkamp (Molly — Russell Morris) as Dick Diamonde and Arthur McBain as Snowy Fleet.

Some may also recognise Byers as the vocalist for local indie-rock band, The Slippers.

"The Easybeats are truly iconic and hold such a special place in our Australia's musical history," ABC's Head of Scripted Production and Executive Producer, Sally Riley said.
"The ABC is proud to team up with Playmaker, Screen Australia and Screen NSW to bring audiences this incredible home grown story which will no doubt be just as upbeat as the band’s biggest hits."
