Prince’s Estate Calls Out Trump For Playing ‘Purple Rain’ At Campaign Event

President Donald Trump has violated a legal agreement with Prince’s estate by playing Purple Rain at a campaign event.

In a statement posted to Prince’s official Twitter account, the singer’s estate pointed out that Trump used the song at a Minneapolis event on Thursday night, despite agreeing a year ago that they would not use his music.

“The Prince Estate will never give permission to President Trump to use Prince’s songs,” the statement reads.

The tweet was accompanied by a letter from Trump’s legal team in which they confirm “the Campaign will not use Prince’s music in connection with its activities going forward”.

Earlier this year, Trump was threatened with legal action for using parts of the score from The Dark Knight Rises in a video on Twitter, while Pharrell Williams, Steven Tyler, Queen, REM and more have previously protested the use of their songs at Trump events.
