Pioneering Scottish rockers Primal Scream have locked in a 2025 Australian tour, heading back down under for the first time since 2018.

The tour arrives after the band release their first album since 2016’s Chaosmosis this November. The new album, Come Ahead, will be released on Friday, 8 November, via BMG.

Singer Bobby Gillespie said of the LP, “I’m very excited about this album in a way that you would be making your first record. If there was an overall theme to Come Ahead, it might be one of conflict, whether inner or outer. There is also a thread of compassion running through the album.

“The title is a Glaswegian term. If someone threatens to fight you, you say, ‘Come ahead!’ It’s redolent of the indomitable spirit of the Glaswegian, and the album itself shares that aggressive attitude and confidence. They have a word for this up there, gallus. Come Ahead’s quite a cheeky title, too.”

Australia will be one of the first countries to hear Primal Scream’s new songs (and the classics, of course), with the band announcing a five-date national tour for January 2025.

The tour begins at Melbourne’s Forum on Friday, 10 January, with the band then heading to Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Saturday, 11 January, Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Monday, 13 January, Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall on Tuesday, 14 January, and wraps up at Fremantle Prison on Thursday, 16 January.

Frontier Members can access pre-sale tickets on Wednesday, 18 September, at 1 pm AEST before the general sale opens on Friday, 20 September, at 10 am local time. You can find more ticketing information here.

Known for hit singles like Movin’ On Up, Rocks, Country Girl, Loaded, Kill All Hippies, Come Together, and many more, Primal Scream are also known (respected and loved) for their 1991 Mercury Prize-winning album, Screamadelica.

To this day, Primal Scream remain essential, with pop star Dua Lipa looking to the band for inspiration on her latest LP, Radical Optimism, and Irish punks Fontaines D.C. citing them as an influence.
