PREMIERE: Siskin River Play With Mortality And Minds In New Single 'Up'

Creepy, kooky, mysterious, spooky - and downright clever, to boot

NSW sibling duo Siskin River are gearing up for the release of their debut full-length album next month with the release of magnificent new single Up - and theMusic.com.au is proud to present the premiere public airing of its accompanying video clip (the girls' debut film effort!) right here for you.

Looking every bit like Tim Burton woke up in a world where it is constantly the Day of the Dead, the clip is a truly visually stunning piece of work, laden with some eye-widening effects and underscored by themes of dissatisfaction and social disconnect as a departed soul drops in on the world he left behind, only to find it mightn't be as great as he thought it was when he left.

The film was shot and animated by Clayton Jacobson (Kenny) using green-screen technology and basically no money in a Victorian shed. To be honest, if nothing else, the video is a testament to how far filmmakers can take their craft on a limited budget.

At the time, the clip's completion was a bittersweet event for sisters Shalane and Tullara, who had then recently been told their father had been diagnosed with terminal cancer and had one month left to live. Given the video's fairly explicit focus on the afterlife, it is understandable that the sisters have thus waited before bestowing the clip upon the world.

Have a watch above - it really is a wonderful little video - and then check out the duo's Facebook page for all their current and forthcoming goings-on.
