The debate surrounding the 2013 AMID Power 50 list has already started after yesterday's announcement that Soundwave and Harvest boss AJ Maddah has been named the Australian music industry's most powerful person.

With the top 20 names now released, the full list of 50 – plus its analysis – will be released in the next Australasian Music Industry Directory, which will be shipped Monday.

This morning Fairfax have revealed that Tim Levinson – aka Urthboy – was this year's highest ranked musician at 25, with Sia Furler at 28, Nick Cave at 38 and Matt Colwell (aka 360) at 47.

Looking at this year's list by the numbers, there were 15 new entries, with iTunes' Janelle McCarthy the highest newcomer at eight.

The highest jump from within the list was triple j's Richard Kingsmill, who in returning from extended leave last year has jumped 36 places to nine in the last 12 months.

Other big movers were Totem OneLove's Richie McNeill, who's up 33 places to seven, while outside the top 20 there was a jump of 28 for one artist manager. The biggest fall from within the top 50 was 14 positions. The biggest drop-out from the 2012 list came from within last year's top ten.
