They're back!
When Chicagoan instrumental post-metal masters Pelican decided to take a hiatus a few years back, there was the slight concern from fans of the band that we'd never see them again. It was a particularly worrying thought, given how much Aussie audiences had taken to the band since the release of their hat-tipping debut LP Australasia, back in 2003.
But the band signalled their return in 2012 with the Ataraxia/Taraxis EP and with new record Forever Becoming last year and they've now confirmed that they will return to Australia to play their first shows over here in many years. The popularity of the kind of sludgey, brooding heavy music that the band play has only continued to build in recent years, so the chance to see one of the best in the genre is very exciting indeed.
They will head around the country this July, with four shows locked in that are sure to be mindblowing for old fans and newcomers alike. The dates are below and tickets are available from Thursday 3 April.
