Plus, who they're excited to see perform at the fest

More Portugal. The Man More Portugal. The Man

Two of the minds behind American rock band Portugal. The Man recently sat down with theMusic to talk all things Splendour In The Grass ahead of their set at the mega-festival tomorrow night.

"Haim and Unknown Mortal Orchestra are the big ones," bassist Zach Carothers happily admitted when asked who they wanted to see perform at SITG. Turns out the Oregon-originated band are pals with both acts.

"We're buddies with those guys. Haim actually sang back-ups on our record [Evil Friends] and they're incredibly talented and some good friends of ours. Same with Unknown Mortal Orchestra, so we get to see those guys, it's been a while."

Carothers and vocalist John Gourley agreed that Splendour was all about the "party" and their set will be something along the lines of "passionate pop". The pair also let us in on what is one of their only pre-show rituals - shotgunning beers! Check out the chat below.
