"Words can’t describe how excited I am to be playing my first headline shows after my Meredith debut! I’ll be playing unreleased music because we all deserve it and I can’t wait for you to see what I’ve been working on."
POOKIE has today announced that she will be performing two headline shows in Naarm/Melbourne and Eora/Sydney this December alongside her stint at Meredith Music and Arts Festival.
The tour will kick off on the 16th of December at Mary's Underground before heading to Brunsiwck's iconic Howler on December the 17th.
POOKIE is a renowned songwriter, producer, DJ and composer based in Naarm via Boorloo. Her tracks invoke her South Sudanese roots in combination with her Western upbringing. She'll be delivering her music live with a band, one informed by Afro-Jazz and hip hop, which are largely inspired by the buzzing diaspora of Black creatives as they gain more attention in white dominated spaces in so-called Australia.
On Instagram, she expressed her excitement stating, "Words can’t describe how excited I am to be playing my first headline shows after my Meredith debut! I’ll be playing unreleased music because we all deserve it, and I can’t wait for you to see what I’ve been working on."
In Naarm, POOKIE will be supported by hip hop acts Tebir and Julai alongside DJs Mirasia, Savage the Girl, Kgomotso, Pet$ and Folarin.
