First single 'Whatever Happened To The Space Race?' available free online from today
Endearing, wild-haired troubadour Shiny Joe Ryan today announced the release of his debut full-length album, The Cosmic Microwave Background, via Aussie label of the moment Spinning Top on May 30.
Drawing on influences that traverse genres from country to pop and rock, the 10-track debut is the product of some long, lonely days and nights in Ryan's Berlin flat, where he wrote and recorded the bulk of the album before conscripting mates Steve Summerlin, Ben McDonald, Nick Allbrook and Felicity Groom to fill out the soundscape a little. The self-mixed album was mastered by Tame Impala band leader Kevin Parker.
To commemorate the forthcoming release, Spinning Top will be making Ryan's single Whatever Happened To The Space Race? Available to fans via their website from May 19.
The album will be released in two formats – as a digital download available for pre-order on iTunes now, and for general release on the iTunes Store from May 30, with plans in place for it to make its way to vinyl in June.
