Guns N' RosesPolice have confirmed Axl Rose was denied a request for an escort to take him to Guns N’ Roses’ gig in Melbourne this week.
According to Herald Sun, the controversial frontman (who from all reports has been on his best behaviour as of late), allegedly refused to leave his hotel without police assistance due to the heavy traffic heading towards the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Tuesday night.
Victoria Police spokeswoman, Kendra Jackson, confirmed a request for a police escort was received on the night.
"A request was made and a risk assessment was conducted," Jackson said.
"The request was denied," she said.
People who did attend the gig have noted that the traffic was almost at a stand-still in the area leading up to the gig and that the band made it on stage just after 8.10pm.
The gig in question is the same in which the band were booed by the 70,000-strong crowd for accidentally greeting the town as Sydney.
The Music has contacted the tour’s promoter for comment.
