The second iteration of the WA event will be a big one

The epic Reclink Community Cup is returning to WA on Sunday 28 August for a second year of footy frivolity, and has settled on coaches, commentators, umpires and members for muso team, the Bandgropers, and media moguls, the Newshounds.

The event will be held at Bassendean Oval and promises pre-show performances from Dennis Cometti (the band), a half-time slug from The Beautiful (Rucous) Losers, and a post-game jam from everyone’s mate Peter Bibby.

WA football luminary Ron Alexander has been whipping the Perth Newshounds into shape as coach, while Dockers legends Shaun Mcmanus and Peter Bell have been offering training gems. 2015’s AFL Woman Of The Year Jan Cooper has also bust out some pre-game moves for the upcoming match.

But on the pitch, RTR’s Chris Dart Kelly and Sarah Norton plan on leading a ruthless team of unfit Newshounds hungry for revenge. Even better, Ben Wyatt the Shadow Treasurer and Shadow Minister for Aboriginal Affairs will be donning a red and white jersey for the dogs.

Kicking for the Bandgropers will be co-captains Tom Fisher, from blues/rock outfit Tom Fisher & The Layabouts, and Maisie Glenn, from the electric Ensemble Formidable.

If the commentary is as great as 2015’s Tristan Fidler and Matt Acorn, expect to be in stitches.  There will also be post-came party in the club rooms with DJ sets, food and froth. Get down early to secure a spot at the family friendly event.

The Perth Community Cup, raising funds for Reclink, will be held on Sunday 28 August at Bassendean Oval. Gates open at 12pm.
