London alternative rockers Placebo have signed a new worldwide licensing deal with Universal Music, with a new EP on the way next month and new record in pipeline for 2013.

In 2007, the three-piece concluded their contract with EMI, taking charge of their own physical back catalogue of music, now also included in the new deal with Universal.

Their new EP, titled B3, will be released on Friday 12 October, and contains five new tracks to add to their six studio albums which have sold more than 12 million records worldwide.

A new full length is also planned to be released in 2013, giving fans the first record since 2009's Battle For The Sun, which was released through a host of independent partners and shot to number one in ten countries.
