Pixies Announce Pearl Jam Tour Sideshows

Pixies may be heading down under to open for Pearl Jam’s mammoth Dark Matter Australian tour dates, but today, fans will be pleased to find out that they’ll also play two sideshows.

Pixies have announced two intimate sideshows where they’ll be joined by special guests, The Belair Lip Bombs. The shows will take place at The Croxton in Melbourne on Friday, 15 November, and Sydney’s Liberty Hall on Wednesday, 20 November.

As a press release notes, the band’s last tour of Australia, which included shows at the Forum in Melbourne and the Sydney Opera House Forecourt, sold out instantly, so you’ll need to get in quick for these gigs.

Pixies are touring in support of their spooky new album, The Night The Zombies Came, released just days before Halloween. They’ll be the special guests for Pearl Jam for their stadium shows in Melbourne, Sydney, and the Gold Coast.

Earlier this year, Pixies announced that they’d replaced bassist Paz Lenchantin, who played on the albums Head Carrier (2016), Beneath The Eyrie (2019), and Doggerel (2022). She was replaced by Band Of Skulls bassist Emma Richardson.

Richardson made her touring debut with Pixies just days after the announcement was made public.

Pixies last toured Australia in December 2022 after they were forced to cancel March 2020 tour dates due to Covid-19 public health orders. The shows celebrated Come On Pilgrim… It’s Surfer Rosa, as well as 2022’s Doggerel, with the iconic rock band taking 28 to 30-song setlists nationwide.
