Phil Anselmo streams debut solo album

Former Pantera vocalist and current Down frontman Phil Anselmo has released his debut solo album for streaming in its entirety.

The album, entitled 'Walk Through Exits Only' and credited to Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, is scheduled for a July 16 release through Anselmo's own Housecore Records. The eight-track release was produced by Anselmo along with Michael Thompson, recorded at Anselmo's own Nodferatu's Lair studio in New Orleans. Anselmo's backing band - The Illegals - includes guitarist Marzi Montazeri as well as Warbeast's José Manuel Gonzales on drums. 

Explaining the project, Anselmo says "It wasn't about doing a paint-by-numbers thrash or heavy metal record. It's an angry album that only I could do. I don't see anybody else out there screaming about the same shit I'm screaming about. On this album, there isn't any wordplay, there isn't any hidden message, it's all right there in front of you."
