There will be three festival performances and two sideshows.

More Pharrell Williams More Pharrell Williams

The Future Music Festival bill just got a whole lot cooler as a new headliner enters the fray – none other than the current number one artist in the country (and around most of the world) Pharrell Williams.

In a statement announcing the Williams return to Australia, he said: “Australia is such a fun place for music – I've always had amazing experiences there. Looking forward to seeing all the fans come out for Future Music Festival – can't wait to perform and show them my gratitude.”

Williams has been a huge start for years, but last year was a particularly massive one for him thanks to the success of songs like Daft Punk's Get Lucky and Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines, both of which he appeared on, as well as the release of his own single Happy, which is what has him back atop the charts right now.

So it's super exciting that he has been added to the 2014 Future Music Festival, but make sure you read this very carefully; he's only playing the Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide festivals. Williams is a pretty busy guy and he'll be at the Oscars – where he is, of course, nominated for an award – during the Brisbane and Perth legs. But, he will play special headline dates in those cities.
