In past years, Townshend had created a blog with plans to post segments of the book online. One such account detailed the day The Who previewed their renowned concept album, 'Tommy', for critics in 1969 at a London jazz club. The site has since been shut down.

HarperCollins executive editor, David Hirshey, released a statement about Townshend’s upcoming book: “In the 1970s, Pete Townshend famously asked ‘Who are you?’. Now, in his autobiography, generations of fans will finally get the answer they’ve been waiting for.”
