A Three-time ARIA Chart Topper & A 'Masked Singer' Winner Have Joined The 'SAS Australia' Cast

SAS Australia is returning in 2021 and its bringing some famous local performers with it. 

The hit Channel Seven program's return has announced today with 18 celebrities locked in to appear in the series which enlists contestants to compete in "an extraordinary series of physical and psychological tests from the real SAS selection process". 

Two musicians have been included in this year's selection with singer-songwriter Pete Murray and singer/actress Bonnie Anderson announced among the cast today. 

Murray is best-known for hits like So Beautiful, Better Days and Opportunity. He's a three-time ARIA Chart topper, having claimed the #1 spot with 2003's Feeler, 2005's See The Sun and 2008's Summer At Eureka

Murray has been nominated for an impressive 17 ARIA Awards and was the APRA Award winner for Most Performed Australian Work in 2005 for breakthrough hit So Beautiful.

Anderson was named the winner of last year's The Masked Singer Australia beating artists Kate-Miller Heidke and Eddie Perfect in the grand finale where she performed David Guetta & Kelly Rowland's When Love Takes Over as the Bushranger. 

In addition to The Masked Singer Australia, Anderson is known for winning the first season of Australia's Got Talent in 2007 when she was just 12. She has appeared on Neighbours as Bea Nilsson since 2018. 

Anderson's not the only contestant from The Masked Singer to appear in the show though, with Mark Philippoussis also locked in. The tennis legend was revealed as the Echinda on the first episode of the series second season in August last year, following his performance of George Michael's classic track Faith

They'll be joined by the likes of actors Dan Ewing and Isabelle Cornish, tennis star Alicia Molik, Olympic runner John Steffensen and more for the season. 

"Living in our world will be the rawest and most brutal life lesson these celebrities will ever experience," said chief instructor Ant Middleton of the show. "We aren’t holding anything back, it’s as authentic as it gets."

Former triple j breakfast co-host and comedian Merrick Watts was announced as one of the winners for the show's first season in 2020. 

The show is expected to air on Channel Seven later this year.
