DZ Deathrays ProfileLong-running council-backed all ages festival Hyperfest may be forced to cancel next month’s Midland-based event if ticket sales don’t pick up.
The annual volunteer-run event is the largest of its kind in the state, with the December 8 line-up featuring DZ Deathrays, Polish Club and more, but organisers say that tickets sales aren’t strong enough and “the reality of cancelling Hyper is dawning upon us”.
“As volunteers, music-lovers, and members of the Western Australian music scene, we are asking for your support to see this festival come into fruition,” reads a statement from the festival.
“Over the next week if we are unable to boost our ticket sales, we’ll be forced to cancel Hyper for this year.
“We understand that festival line-ups don’t appeal to everyone, and that every festival has a little negativity thrown their way.
“But regardless of your musical preferences, we ask that you please remain positive and respectful at this time.
“As festival organisers we’re understandably under a lot of stress right now, so please help us remain enthusiastic and optimistic.”
If they are forced to cancel, promoters have assured current ticketholders they would be given a full refund.
