ABC has revealed an exclusive interview with Paul McCartney will air on 730 next week to align with the megastar’s Australian tour.

Reporter Leigh Sales is set to join McCartney on stage in Perth, the first stop in his Australian tour, in what is to be his only TV interview during the visit.

"I am beyond excited," Sales said.

"When I lived in the US, I saw him in concert twice and they were two of the greatest nights of my life. 

"I've never interviewed somebody of whom I'm a bigger fan."

The interview will air Monday 4 December after McCartney's first weekend of shows.
