Hey, do you know who Pasha Bulka are? Well, if you don't then fear not, we have got your back.
Pasha Bulka is made up of five mates from Newcastle, Australia who banded together in 2012 to play melodic hardcore with their main goal being to make friends along the way and ensure that their lively, emotional music connects with as many ears as humanly possible. This mission statement has beer further aided by their recently released debut EP, 'Defeat', which ain't half bad! The EP's trio of songs - 'Furnace', 'Defeat', and 'Old Antique Store' (easily the best of the three tracks) - all feature the hallmarks of the melodic hardcore genre; clean guitars, thrashy distorted riffs, plenty of emotional lyrics, fast punk rock grooves and drumming, lively dynamics, and plenty of yelling and screaming. You know, that good shit.
Sure, 'Defeat' isn't a landmark release for the genre nor the local scene, but it's a solid one at that; one that is honest and does away with any and all bullshit. So, here is hoping that the Pasha Bulka dudes can play as many shows as possible off the back of this release come 2017.
The three-track EP was engineered, mixed and mastered by Clayton Segelov at The Brain Recording Studios, with the artwork being done by Joe Andersons & Sam Hodgkins. Check out the release on their Bandcamp page here or just stream it in full below like a lazy sumbitch.
