Party On Sydney & Brisbane - Key Live Music Venues Not For Sale

1 December 2016 | 1:48 pm | Staff Writer

Aaaaand we're safe.

Following news that a number of hugely popular Sydney and Brisbane live music establishments could be going on the open market soon, the Riversdale Group has assured punters that two key venues are not for sale.

After declining to comment to The Music on the subject this week, the group has confirmed that stalwart Sydney venue Vic On The Park and Brisbane's The Foundry are staying put.

"The group is looking to sell one or two venues in Sydney, and the aim is to release that capital and to continue to grow," Riversdale Group said in a statement.

"Despite reports, we are absolutely not looking to sell any Brisbane venues. Our other prominent live venue, the Vic on the Park in Sydney is also not currently for sale.

"Our team created The Foundry because we wanted to offer a one stop shop for the live music community in Brisbane. In just over a year, we have seen The Foundry become an important live music hub for Brisbane and it’s now an integral part of the city’s music community - serving as an office space for industry and a key destination venue for touring bands.

"Live music is and remains at the heart of our plan for these two venues. As a company, we have a huge passion for supporting independent musicians and bands.

"Business will continue as usual at both The Foundry and Vic on the Park and we look forward to hosting and working with the industry in both Sydney and Brisbane to help create an even more vibrant music community."

The group's comments come only days after it was confirmed that The Marlborough Hotel in Newtown and Kinsela’s Hotel in Darlinghurst are indeed up for sale.
