The biggest event to be ever held in Outback NSW, the inaugural Mundi Mundi Bash wrapped up earlier this week, with Paul Kelly performing to 10,000 revellers on the red Mundi Mundi Plains, just outside of Broken Hill.
Other highlights from the festival included country-folk icon John Williamson performing the biggest singalong of the day via his anthem True Blue along with many other beloved tracks.
The line-up also included Aussie rock legends Chocolate Starfish and Mi-Sex, folk-rock storyteller Shane Howard, renowned vocal duo Vika & Linda, and country music star Caitlyn Shadbolt.
As if that wasn't enough, festival-goers set a new World Record for most people dressed in Mad Max themed attire.
Over 500 punters dressed in Mad Max theme, which set the official World Record, in a location that is synonymous with the movie franchise.
Punters also attempted a new World Record for the largest Nutbush City Limits dance.
Over 2,106 boot-scooting bush dancers kicked up the dust, however, the attempt fell slightly short of the record 2,878 dancers, which was set last year at the Birdsville Big Red Bash – the Mundi Mundi Bash’s sister festival in remote Southwest Queensland.
Despite falling short, the attempt raised close to $42,000 for the festival's charity partner, the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Event owner and organiser, Greg Donovan, MD of the Outback Music Festival Group, said, “We are so proud and thrilled by the turnout of amazing Aussie music legends and fantastic crowds who have travelled far and wide to make this first ever Mundi Mundi Bash a spectacular success.
"It has been a long time coming and, after a COVID-related postponement, we’ve finally gotten the festival we’ve always dreamed of up-and-running. It’s been a labour of love in many ways, and all the work has certainly been worth it.
"Thank you to everyone who has made this festival possible – especially the Blores who allowed us to camp out in their Belmont Station backyard, and the town and people of Broken Hill! We can’t wait to do it all again this August!”
A second Mundi Mundi Bash will be taking place in August 2022, featuring joint headliners Jimmy Barnes and Missy Higgins, alongside Kasey Chambers, Jon Stevens, Daryl Braithwaite and others.
