Olivia Rodrigo Perfectly Covers Avril Lavigne's 'Complicated'

Olivia Rodrigo has begun her Sour World Tour, performing a cover of Avril Lavigne's Complicated in Portland on Tuesday night.

The cover is no surprise, with Rodrigo spearheading an early 2000s culture revival across mainstream pop, from the fashion to the unadulterated pop-punk anguish.

Right before performing the track, she said, “This next song is a song I really love by the pop-punk princess herself.” She climbed on top of the piano, wearing baggy jeans and a crop top and nailed the performance. 

Lavigne presented Rodrigo with the Female Artist Of The Year honour at the 2022 iHearRadio Music Awards, as well as handing her the trophy for Variety's Songwriter Of The Year Award. 

Rodrigo has just won the award for Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album for her debut album SOUR at the Grammys.
