Australian music legend Oana Gilbert passed away yesterday, as shared by CrewCare on Facebook.

Gilbert had a career in music that spanned decades. She worked as a Production Assistant with Powderfinger, worked closely with legendary Australian artists like Diesel and Noiseworks as a driving force in their early careers and became a critical Executive Manager at Frontier Touring. Marihuzka Cornelius, the A&R Director at Ivy League Records/Music, directly cited Gilbert as one of the mentors in a One Of One feature on Women Of Mushroom Group (part 1/3).

Affectionately known as "Executive Fluff-butt" in the Frontier Touring offices thanks to her love for dogs, especially her dog Rocky, "a Maltese-Shih Tzu cross with a show-stopping underbite, known around the Frontier Touring office as 'Fluff-Butt'."

CrewCare honoured Gilbert by writing, "We are truly heartbroken to learn of the passing of industry stalwart and legend of the business Oana 'Wani' Gilbert.

"Oana was a great friend to many and a pure joy to be around. Her kind heart and sense of humour could only be matched by her love of music and all the bands, crew and her passion for the job. But what she was also known for was her connection to family and her love for all the animals, like the birds that visited her house in Sydney and her dogs over the years.

"For someone so humble, who always put themselves last and preferred to be in the background while the lights of the shows she put together shone brightly it's not always easy to find a quote so perhaps the best way to finish is with some words we found in a 2009 SMH article about pet-friendly workplaces: 'Some owners need to bring their dogs to work. Rocky is a Maltese-shih tzu cross with a show-stopping underbite, known around the Frontier Touring office as "Fluff-Butt". He comes to the music promoters' office daily with owner Oana Gilbert, an executive assistant. Ms Gilbert brings Rocky to work because she has become a full-time carer for her mother, who was injured in a fall while walking the dog. "When everyone here realised that my mum wasn't well, they said, 'Just bring Rocky in with you, it's totally cool.'"

"Rest In Peace Wani, you will be greatly missed."

Amy Washington, a Freelance Ticketing & Events Manager, wrote of her friend's kind soul, "She would never hold her tongue and would always speak up for what she thought was right. In an Industry dominated by male promoters, Wani would always be at the head of it all working her magic. I admired her as she was a doer and got what she wanted. We laughed always, even in the most highly stressful moments."
