NT's Sista Sounds Music Program Returns In 2016

1 April 2016 | 8:53 am | Staff Writer

"The women who are mentoring provide exemplary pathways for other girls and women to be inspired by."

An amazing initiative to encourage more Indigenous female musicians and songwriters, MusicNT's Sista Sounds music program has announced its return to remote communities in 2016, with workshops kicking off next week.

Offering experience for Indigenous girls and women to learn the basics of music production, songwriting and picking up an instrument, this year's workshops will start on 4 April and run until 27 May.

Edi Donald of MusicNT said, "This year we are really lucky to have a growing number of Indigenous mentors, who have been participants in previous programs, to support the delivery of remote workshops.

"This is a huge measure of success for women's music in this region because the women who are mentoring provide exemplary pathways for other girls and women to be inspired by."
