"When you have smaller groups, there is less chance of people getting up and mingling."
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has today confirmed that restrictions put in place on pubs and hotels earlier this week will extend to nightclubs, as well as restaurants, cafes and hospitality venues.
As ABC reports, Berejiklian confirmed the restrictions, including limiting bookings to a maximum of 10 people and no dancing at bars, will come into effect from 24 July.
"... so whatever restrictions we announce last week and the most important one I think for the majority of our citizens is no group bookings above 10 people," Berejiklian said at a press conference today.
"The reason for this as we absolutely need everybody seated when they are in a venue.
"When you have smaller groups, there is less chance of people getting up and mingling.
"We do not want any sort of mingling, that spreads the disease."
