Sydney band Nothing Too Serious have demanded that NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard clears their name after comments he made earlier this month have led to a tirade of abuse directed their way.
In a press conference on December 17, Hazzard publicly named the band, suggesting they were the cause of a COVID-19 cluster in Sydney after two band members tested positive for the virus following a show at Avalon RSL on December 11.
The group has now taken to Facebook to demand Hazzard “set the record straight”, while highlighting they promoted proper social distancing practices throughout the gig and that they “did NOT bring COVID to the RSL”.
“The entire band went to Avalon RSL 100 % healthy, NO symptoms and totally unaware of any COVID outbreak,” the post reads.
“Two of our band members ended up infected with the COVID virus from the gig.”
The band also noted that since the December 11 gig, they haven’t done any other performances.
“We’ve become and continue to be nationally notorious through the initial implication – one that we’re advised was a gross breach of privacy and NOT BASED on fact,” they said.
“We ask that you respect the facts and please if you hear incorrect rumours circulating, take it upon yourself to correct those that believe or spread misinformation.
“NTS would sincerely like to thank the many who have supported us, the local community that know of the truth and while we deal with those who choose not to consider the facts.”
As Daily Mail reports, Hazzard admitted after naming the band that he should not have revealed that information.
