Ensemble turn to crowd-funding to help get them to Europe
As Melburnian six-piece The Woohoo Revue found out earlier this week, being added to the Glastonbury Festival line-up is only half the battle for Aussie bands, with actually getting there making up most of the remainder.
As such, Adelaide-based Afrobeat ensemble Shaolin Afronauts, who have also been announced on the iconic event's roster for 2014, have turned to crowd-funding platform Pozible to help get their nine members overseas for a meeting with their dreams.
With just more than $2500 presently pledged towards their $15,000 total, the sizeable collective is about $12,500 shy of reaching their goal – itself only about a third of the total funding required for the trip (the remainder of which the band has sourced themselves).
The Glasto invite is the band's first such call to play a major international festival in their six-year career together, which has so far yielded two full-length albums, with a third due next month, so it's certainly a goal towards which they have been working for quite some time.
