It’s a good time to be a Nils Frahm fan, with the German pianist, composer, and producer preparing to release a new live album and return to Australia in 2025.
The live album, Paris, was recorded in the Philharmonie de Paris’ Grand Salle Pierre Boulez six months after he released what has been described as his magnum opus, Music For Animals.
Paris is Frahm’s first live album recorded on a single night—21 March 2024—and features ten tracks that run for 84 minutes. The album will be available on 2LP vinyl and digital platforms, with the first single, Spells, out now.
The live album finds Frahm drawing from his substantial, influential catalogue. During his performance, Frahm reworked tracks from throughout his discography, including the Music For Animals songs Right Right Right and Briefly, as well as The Bells’ Some, 2012’s Screws, and the stunning renditions of Opera and On The Roof.
Paris will be released on Friday, 6 December, via Frahm’s own label, LEITER. You can pre-order/pre-save your copy here.
In addition to releasing the live album in just a few weeks, Frahm is set to return to Australia in early 2025.

He begins the run at Perth Festival (26-27 February) before making his way to the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) on 2 March, Sydney Opera House on 5 and 7 March, WOMADelaide on 9 March, Hobart’s The Odeon on 12 March, and Melbourne’s Hamer Hall on 14 and 15 March.
The QPAC website says of Frahm’s special show: “His breadth and depth of music creation is reflected in the album Music For Animals and on the recently released record Day Frahm shows that he is a master of creating poignant and simple melodies.”
On Frahm as an artist, they added: “When it comes to defining the space between classical and electronic music, hardly any name is mentioned as often as Frahm. His unconventional approach to an age-old instrument played contemplatively and intimately, and his sonic alchemy of ambient textures and atmospheric electronica has won him many fans across the globe.”
