Locals recognised by the influential publication
A number of local artists have been recognised in NME's best albums and tracks of 2013 lists.
The influential UK publication named Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds' ARIA winning album Push The Sky Away as the eighth best LP of the year, while Sydney's Jagwar Ma came in at 16 with their debut Howlin'. Melbourne singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett, who has experienced a fair amount of success overseas this year, scored number 38 on the list with her release The Double EP: A Tale Of Split Peas.
On the singles front, Jagwar Ma featured again with The Throw in at 23, as did Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Jubilee Street was named 12th best track of 2013. Kiwi sensation and 'adopted' Aussie Lorde scored the number nine placing with her smash hit Royals. Pond and Courtney Barnett gained the highest placings out of the local contingent - the Perth psych rockers reached 7th with Xanman and Barnett's Avant Gardener came in at an impressive six.
