Newsted, Hardcore Superstar pull out of Soundwave

Two more international acts have announced they won't be appearing at this year's Soundwave festival.

Two more international acts have announced they won't be appearing at this year's Soundwave festival.

Former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted's eponymous band Newsted have withdrawn from the lineup with little explanation. In a Facebook post made earlier today, the band confirmed - "The NEWSTED Band will not be appearing or performing live in February or March 2014."

Meanwhile, Swedish rockers Hardcore Superstar have been removed after allegedly threatening to cancel their appearances unless given a later spot on the timetable. While no official statement has been given, festival promoter AJ Maddah tweeted that the band won't be playing, offering that they "can't really swap them with Alice in Chains".

Soundwave 2014 kicks off this weekend in Brisbane and Sydney.
