The music industry’s beloved charity 5-a-side football tournament, Musica Copa is returning to Marrickville’s KIKOFF soccer centre on Friday 5th Feb 2016.
Who likes sports? Come on, we know that under that hipster guise we all put on, we all (probably) like some kind of sport. For us at Purple Sneakers, we love soccer (or football; holla Northern Hemisphere peeps). And it turns out heaps of our music friends love it too.
That's why we're not only stoked to be announcing MUSICA COPA is once again back in 2016, we're also stoked to be the god damn presenting partner for the event! Our own Martin Novosel is one half of the organising team!

Participation levels are at an all-time high and to cope with demand, the ever-expanding social enterprise has increased to 20 teams (up from 16 teams last season and 12 teams in 2013). And that means that the stakes are at an all-time high too, as Music Copa has also announced today that a huge $14,000 in prize money has been donated for the top 4 finishing teams to win for their nominated charities.
So who's playing this year? The team has managed to wrangle a representation of the market leaders of the national music industry. There's multi award-winning labels; premier booking agencies; a national touring festival; some influential music TV, radio and online publications; music culture tastemakers and a global digital streaming service. And there's still some more new stuff! For the first time ever the tournament will be opened up to the public on Saturday 6th February as we present Musica Copa El Publico. Local 5-a-side teams can enter for the chance to win their own bumper cash prize and raise even more money for charity.
